Biografía
Recuerdo con claridad la primera canción que me gustó. Una canción cuya melodía me cautivó. Tendría unos cinco años y era una de las canciones favoritas de mis padres: 'La canción del elegido', de Silvio Rodríguez. Desde entonces, la música me ha hecho sudar más lágrimas que cualquier otra expresión artística o evento conmovedor. El nombre de esa emoción, el nombre de mi música, es Yelo.
La ambición de dedicarme profesionalmente a la música llegó con cierta demora pero con enorme vigor. Nací como artista en solitario a finales de 2021, aunque algunas de las canciones que he compuesto tomaron forma varios años antes. Yelo es una propuesta que, si bien recoge ciertas características de cantautores de folk estadounidense como el célebre Bob Dylan, integra influencias de diversos estilos como el rock alternativo, el pop e incluso el metal alternativo en una amalgama que incluye ritmos acústicos de rock n’ roll clásico, pop de los noventa, indie del nuevo milenio y riffs pesados que se combinan con voces agudas de suave textura y, en ocasiones, gritos rasgados que rompen la armonía y la dulzura que imperan en la mayoría de las canciones.
Mis fuentes de inspiración son diversas, desde la música popular que ha marcado las últimas décadas hasta el folklore procedente de diversas partes del mundo. En cualquier caso, podría mencionar a bandas como Deftones, Team Sleep, Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, Pixies, Sonic Youth, The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys, Oasis, Blur, Gorillaz, Coldplay, Arcade Fire, Alt-J, Weezer, The Cure o The Smiths; así como de solistas como el mencionado Dylan, Lou Reed, David Bowie, Iggy Pop, Jeff Buckley, Mac deMarco y King Krule. Asimismo, el universo narrativo de mis canciones bebe de referencias dispares y alude a las brechas existenciales provocadas por la vorágine de las sociedades contemporáneas a través de insinuaciones poéticas que se compaginan con menciones más directas.
Creo que la música es lo más parecido a la hechicería que hay en el mundo y ahora quisiera mostrar mi magia particular. Mi nuevo single está disponible en todas las plataformas y su nombre es MFA (My Female Ancestor), una canción que ofrece un recorrido extenso y progresivo en la que cada una de las emociones implicadas dispone del tiempo necesario para desarrollarse y dar paso a las sucesivas. Es así como, sobre una amalgama formada con elementos propios del rock alternativo y el trip hop, los juegos de voces sugieren los detalles del relato en un proceso de acumulación de sensaciones que acaba por estallar al final de la travesía.

I clearly remember the first song I liked. A song whose melody captivated me. I was about five years old and it was one of my parents' favourite songs: 'La canción del elegido', by Silvio Rodríguez. Since then, music has made me sweat more tears than any other artistic expression or moving event. The name of that emotion, the name of my music, is Yelo.
The ambition to dedicate myself professionally to music came with some delay but with enormous vigour. I was born as a solo artist at the end of 2021, although some of the songs I have composed took shape several years earlier. Yelo is an approach that, while picking up certain characteristics of American folk singer-songwriters such as the celebrated Bob Dylan, integrates influences from diverse styles such as alternative rock, pop and even alternative metal in an amalgam that includes acoustic rhythms of classic rock n' roll, nineties pop, new millenium indie and heavy riffs that combine with softly textured high-pitched vocals and, at times, raspy screams that break the harmony and sweetness that prevail in most of the songs.
My sources of inspiration are diverse, from the popular music that has marked the last decades to the folk music coming from different parts of the world. In any case, I could mention bands like Deftones, Team Sleep, Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, Pixies, Sonic Youth, The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys, Oasis, Blur, Gorillaz, Coldplay, Arcade Fire, Alt-J, Weezer, The Cure or The Smiths; as well as solo artists like Dylan, Lou Reed, David Bowie, Iggy Pop, Jeff Buckley, Mac deMarco and King Krule. Likewise, the narrative universe of my songs draws on disparate references and alludes to the existential gaps caused by the maelstrom of contemporary societies through poetic insinuations combined with more direct mentions.
I believe that music is the closest thing to sorcery in the world and now I would like to show my particular magic. My new single is available on all platforms and its name is MFA (My Female Ancestor), a song that offers an extensive and progressive journey in which each of the emotions involved has the necessary time to develop and give way to the successive ones. This is how, on an amalgam formed with elements of alternative rock and trip hop, the play of voices suggests the details of the story in a process of accumulation of sensations that ends up exploding at the end of the trip.
